DA trippers: The DAocumentary

Were you unable to make it to the DA Trippers Tripleversary Powwow?    Is this week’s DA cryptic just too far away to bear? Do you have trouble getting through the day until Letters and Numbers starts?

A salve to these irritations might be looking at the short doco that a team from RMIT made about DA and his fans, featuring interviews with DA, AS, RC and scenes from the powwow!!!!

Should a documentary about cryptic tragics be a “crocumentary”?

Spoiler warning: you may find out what we look like, leading to great disappointment.

Confused? Bemused? Perhaps even unamused?

Sort out your confusements, bemusements and unamusements right here.

DA for the 11/12th of November, 2011

I’ll be in Macau for this one, most likely at the baccarat table.

Hopefully it will be a James Bond theme, in the Casino Royale era.

Update: No James Bond I’m afraid:

DA Confusion for the 4/5th of November, 2011

Confusion is expected because a curly crossword is expected.

Have explanations provided right here.

DA for the 4/5th of November, 2011

I have it from DA himself that this week’s crossword is indeed curly.

Batten down the hatches for what will likely be a very intense session with a 15×15 grid.

And remember: no spoilers on this particular thread until Monday.

Update: Themes, themes, everywhere:

RC and I got together in his backyard for this one, and we were plenty happy to say a double-theme in a single crossword.

Fun times.

Robin’s Notes

As was revealed recently, Robin has dedicated himself to the craft of solving crosswords by making detailed daily notes on the crosswords he worked on in a scrapbook.

I was intrigued, and Robin was kind enough to send through some scanned copies of a few pages from his scrapbook. They’re really quite impressive:

A Themed AS Special: The Solutions

The first comment below will reveal the answers to the themed crossword I made recently.

Cheers.

There’s generally something to be confused about in a DA; here’s where the power of the internet mind resolves your troubles.

DA for the 28/29th of October, 2011

A welcome DA distraction this week: I will stuck in a car to Leongatha and back with nothing much else to do.

(No spoilers on this particular thread until Monday)

Update: A fine Leongatha accompaniment:

Missed out on the NE corner, but had fun anyway.

A Themed AS Special

Yes, it’s my first attempt at a themed crossword, a theme which should be of interest to pretty much all of you. So don’t waste a Wednesday on another DP when you can have yourself the rarest of beasts: a themed AS special.

Feel free to regale, criticise or just plain ignore the crossword.

All starred clues are a 15-across and do not feature a definition.

All hashed clues feature within their respective answers a particular 15-across that has silently and nonchalantly infiltrated many other 15-acrosses. As such, the sneaky 15-across within the hashed clues’ answers is left unclued.

Update: The clue for 11-across has changed since I first posted this crossword. As Rupert points out in the comments, the original clue for 11-across, which I had clued as Capture last triumph, bauble of high birth, is inaccurate.

Further update: The clue for 12-across has also changed since I first posted this crossword. RB pointed out that the original clue, Readable jumble holds ultimate love for clean shaver, had a mistaken anagram.
