RC is a mountain goat and got me thinking that climbing Pão de Açúcar rather than taking the air lift would be a great idea. Alas, I puffed, I spluttered and I ached and only made it about a quarter of the way up before deciding the view was good enough from where we were to sit and crack out an old DA overlooking Guanabara bay in Rio.

We didn’t quite finish the crossie but we got close, and the vista was well worth my sweat and tears.

But what about this week’s?

Delightful? Wonderful? Brazilian themed?

And you might notice a little lipogrammatic experiment I have been forced to conduct: no apostrophes — Spanish keyboards do not need them!

Oopsies, I forgot to start this thread on Friday (thanks for comment, RB).

Now I’m twiddling my thumbs in Sydney airport waiting for my delayed flight to Buenos Aires to begin.

Thankfully, Sydney airport has free internet access, which is a far cry from what’s on offer in Melbourne at Tullamarine.

Anyway, back to the crossword, which you can comment on freely below.

I’m off to the Mercosur nations (but not Paraguay) on Sunday, which will mean that as of Sunday, all three originators of this blog, RC, TH and I will be overseas.

TH is lost to NY and RC is in Rio, as he has been for most of the year. I’ll be catching up with RC over there next week. I’m taking a stash of old DA cryptics with me, and we plan on doing what might never have been done before: finishing a DA on the Sugarloaf Mountain.

And so, what about this week’s cryptic?
