I’m a bit concerned; obscure words as a solution are a copout in my book….1A 22A 11D, especially when an anagram is involved. Not a memorable crossie this week for me 13A probably the cleverest.
Possible spoilers in my response so added to the other thread.
I’m with AL on obscure words, and I’d add 10A, which I have never heard.
I’m more concerned about the large number of dodgy anagram indicators. Mulch, harry, slumped. Also top as the instruction to remove the first letter.
I have some gripes, too: see other thread. On the plus side, I enjoyed 13A, 26A, 21D.
Careful of spoilers here, please, Ian.

Interestingly, Monday’s RM (I think) had this:
Harry misses tip because he’s hopeless! (9)
Quite nice, I thought, and “harry” feels quite appropriate as an anagrind.
I thought Harry Truman eg was genius!
Yeah, I thought so too, haiku. It reminded me of a DA clue from a year or two ago which contained “Harry Potter”. I think the anagram fodder preceded “harry” (anagram indicator) and “potter” was the definition. I think the answer was “ceramicist”.

We thought Dewey eg was genius!
