DA Gold (13th June)

11ac:  Hawaiian bloke held out long iMac (3,3,9)

After straining our brains to think of terms for Polynesian chiefs, and Queensland landmarks (RC: “do Hawaiians call their chiefs ‘the big pineapple’?”) it occurred to us that we were really talking about pizza toppings, Ham and Pineapple .  Brilliant!

held = had, holding bloke = man gives ham and.  Long = pine (as in to long for) and an iMac = apple

8dn: Prince Charles’s ex (sic) vending machine? (9)

How long had DA been saving this one up for????

Princess Di’s maiden name was Spencer, with (sic) = Di Spenser = dispenser = vending machine
